Production process and molding process of cemented carbide rod
The cemented carbide rod is the cemented carbide round rod, also known as the tungsten steel rod, in short, the tungsten steel round rod or the cemented carbide member rod. Cemented carbide is a composite material made of refractory metal compounds (hard phase) and bonded metal (bonding phase) produced by powder metallurgy. Tungsten carbide is also known as tungsten steel, relatively speaking, is the local name of the different.
There are two forming methods for the production of cemented carbide round rods: one is extrusion molding, and extrusion molding is a suitable way to produce long rods. Can be truncated to any length desired by the user during the extrusion process. However, the overall length cannot exceed 350mm. The other is die molding, which is a suitable way to produce short bar material. As the name suggests, the carbide powder is pressed into shape with a mold. The hard compounds and bonded metals made of refractory metals are basically unchanged at temperatures of 500°C through the powder metallurgy process, and still have a high hardness at 1000°C. Tungsten carbide is widely used in corrosion and a series of excellent properties, especially its high hardness and wear resistance, even in the tool materials, such as turning tools, milling tools, cutting tools, drills, knives, etc., used to cut cast iron, non-ferrous metals, plastics, chemical fiber, graphite, glass, stone and ordinary steel. It can also be used for cutting mill, drying cabinet, Z mixer, pelletizing machine) -- pressing (with side pressure hydraulic press or extrusion press) -- burning heat resistant steel, stainless steel, high manganese steel, tool steel and other difficult materials wet grinding (degreasing furnace, integrated furnace or HIP low pressure furnace).
The raw materials are wet ground, dried, mixed with glue after matching, then dried through the mold hall or extruded for stress relief, and finally formed by degreasing and sintering to form the final alloy gross diameter round bar material. Pinching the two ends will waste some material. The longer the length of tungsten carbide small diameter round rod material, the disadvantage of extrusion production of round rod material is that the production cycle is long. Extrude 3mm below cylindrical grinding to improve the linearity of the wool damage. Of course, the problems of straightness and roundness can be improved with cylindrical grinding in the later stage.
The other is mold forming, which is the method of short rod production, as the name suggests, the mold will press the cemented carbide powder to form. The advantages of this cemented carbide bar molding method: the other can be molded at a time, which is the method of short bar production. As the name suggests, it is molding, reducing waste. Simplify the line cutting process and save the dry material cycle of the extrusion method. The above shortened time can save 7-10 days for customers.
Strictly speaking, isostatic pressing is also a die forming. Isostatic pressing is the most ideal forming method for the production of large and long cemented carbide round rods. Through the upper and lower piston seal, the pressure pump will inject the liquid medium between the high pressure cylinder and the pressure rubber, through the pressure rubber will transfer the hall force to make the cemented carbide powder pressure molding.
